Course: Spatial data analysis with R | csc

  • Welcome...

The aim of the course is to familiarize participants with spatial analysis with R.

    Topics of the course:

    •     Handling and plotting vector data in R
    •     Spatial operations (intersection, clipping, conversions etc)
    •     Spatial analysis of vector data (clustering, density surfaces, autocorrelation)
    •     Visualizing spatial data
    •     Raster basics with R
    •     Raster data manipulation
    •     Map algebra
    •     Spatial modelling with raster data
    Prerequisites:

    •     Basics of geoinformatics and geostatistics
    •     Basic use of R, no earlier experience with R spatial packages is needed. For self-study Data analysis with R course material can be used.
    Materials:

You can find all course materials in the Github repository: https://github.com/csc-training/r-spatial-course/
A good option for Finnish academic users, is to go through the materials and R code in CSC Notebooks service with RStudio. Login using CSC account, HAKA or VIRTU and find "Spatial data analysis with R" from the main page, launch and learn. The RStudio has all the needed packages pre-installed and also a copy of the course Github repository.
This course and materials are created by Marko Kallio (Aalto University).
